Fun project for saturday

lucky me i get to put a rear main seal in the wife's talon. hopefully this won't take 2 days like putting the tranny in the gs did! but it is a auto. which is harder to pull a auto tranny or a manual? im going to go down and spray everything with some pb blaster the night before i start working on it and maybe again the morning of the big project. im kinda hoping on having everything if no problems in about 3-4 hours . i guess on the bright side of things the parts are really cheap! has anyone replaced their rear main? how long did it take? any suggestions? i just did the valve cover gasket on it last weekend because i went to check the plugs and there was about 1" of oil in a few of the plugs! after i got the valve cover off the sparkplug rings just fell out they were so worn! the car only has 110k on it? should i be replacing these gaskets allready? any input would be great. thanks

Re: Fun project for saturday

I would think that an auto tranny would be harder to remove. As for the seals, it depends on how well maintained the engine has been.

I've pulled both before, they're pretty much the same. The first time always takes the longest because you're learning how to do it, it should go alot smoother for you this time. Good luck.
