85 150 wont start because my stupid brother
help me please my 150 wont start, it turns over and over and every now and the acts like it wants to start but wont, my brother dropped a nut down my intake while I was putting a new carb on and didnt tell me, it backfired and then wouldnt run anymore I think it may be a timing issue because ive got fuel, & spark it just won't run.

Re: 85 150 wont start because my stupid brother
I doubt it is due to the nut being dropped in the intake. All of your engine components should be harder than the nut. You might hear it bounce around but unless its lodged under a valve or preventing something from moving (doubtful), it is more likely something else causing it not to run. What else did you do besides swap a carb?

Re: 85 150 wont start because my stupid brother
thats all, I swapped the carb with a carb of the exact same because the other one is wore out. It is the stock holley that came on the 351w h.o. 5.8L engine. everything is hooked up right so I figure the timing was probably the problem because its trying to start but just wont. the truck has 235450 miles on it.

Re: 85 150 wont start because my stupid brother
I had a similar experience with a Pinto station wagon (I admit it, I bought one - at least it is a Ford, eh?). Dropped the wing nut for the air cleaner while the engine was running, just a standard wing nut 1/4 x 20 thread, and it went through the carb, into the #4 intake tube, and - well - unfortunately the end result was a long block. Took out the #4 intake valve, damaged the head by the valve seat, broke the #4 piston and scored the #4 cylinder bad enough it could not be bored.
I really hope you are not in a similar circumstance. Dave / Believer45
