Is this right for me?

I have procured a 86 supra, semi running condiction.
I was wondering if auto cross is the right type of racing for it, or is it more suited towards track events? Or is it junk and should be donated to pick n pull?
I plan on adding a supercharger, twidling with many of the other engine aspects. Adding aerodynamics (I have been boat for a long time so fiberglassing wings is a simple task for me) which include fender flares to increase the tire size. And much more, I have nothing but time...
With these mods is auto cross a suitable competition? Or would it be destroyed by cars in its class?
