Diagnostic code P0101?

99 Burb 4X4, 5.7 with K&N Air Filter. I've noticed a hesitation when I first step on the accelerator for a few months now. No SES light, but thought I would check, and sure enough code P0101 came up. Repair manual says it's Mass Air Flow sensor, range or performance problem. It seems to me that I need to replace the MAF, but wanted to see if I should check something else first before I spend the $ to replace it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Diagnostic code P0101?

Clear the code, drive it and if the code doesn't come back don't replace the MAF. If the SES light wasn't on the code isn't a hard fault, it could be the MAF but with out a scanner to actually look at the performance of the MAF it is a lot of money to speculate with.

Good chance with the k and n the maf wires are oil contaminated, take it off and clean with crc maf cleaner, put back the old air cleaner reset the code and see what happens, lots of issues with this happening.
