Unhappy remove air box -filter

hi guys its brewster again on my daughters car I would like to remove the air box and replace it with something that don't take up as much room when i had the intake off there was 2 hoses 1 big one and 1 small one how do i get around that and what are they for can they be blocked any clues i know they didn't put them there for looks but they sure are a pain when ya want to work on it I need all the help I can get it looks like this car is going to be around for a while thanks brewster: screwy:

*Nevermind, I just saw your other post where you say it's a 95. In that case, IIRC, on the 95's they had some weird extra box, that I think was supposed to muffle the "intake" noise. The small hose should run to your valve cover and is a vent for the valve cover. You can place a small breather filter on that end. Why not put a cold air intake on there for your daughter?
