NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

So i have a locking lugnug on each wheel and in trying to get my wheels off the key to the locking nut broke on my second wheel... i have noone around here with the same key and i took it to my friends shop and we welded bolts to it and then tried and it would not come off.

We are most likely going to have to torch it off and then replace the stud on that wheel because i think that it might be cross threaded.. Then, the two back wheels both still have the locking lugs on them and i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get them off easy or if anyone has a key i can buy or knows of a place to get one...

What kind of lock is it? Oem? if so try the dealer. If not try the place you got the wheels at.

Re: NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

You should still be able to get it off with a regular wheel key, even though it's a different pattern. It might strip the key but should get the job done, worked on mine at least...

Re: NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

its a wavy star pretty much i dont have a camera anymore haha long story but after i get these rims off im selling them, they are stock eclipse wheels and are in decent shape. One is bent and the others have been through winters, i would sell them with the tires they have on which have a lot of tread left for really cheap if anyone is interested in refurbishing...

Re: NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

If you know anybody else with a DSM ask to borrow there's and just go buy new lug nuts so it won't happen again.

Re: NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

Easier solution... Test fit some sockets on it until you find one that won't quite go on it. Then, go buy 4 cheap ass ones of the same size somewhere else. Bring them home, use a hammer and pound it over the lock lug and then take it off and throw it in the trash can... It would be a lot easier than torching it and having to replace the stud also I think...

Re: NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

its not an acutal lug "nut" its a cicular star pattern, almost like an allen wrench, they sell that kit at pep boys specifically for those rims...

Re: NOOO way to get locking lug off!!!

I had the same problem on my car when I put my new wheels on. Mine were the lug locks with a star in the middle, but round on the outside. I had to cut a bolt pattern in the round outside of the lug with a dremel and then hammer the closest size socket onto the lug. Then from there it was pretty easy to get off unless your rachet breaks like mine did.
I think this is the easiest way to get those lugs off it you plan to throw them away.
