Cool Muffler?

I'm looking at replacing the muffler I have on my truck (1992 GMC K1500 with a 5.7)... I want something that isn't loud and annoying but i also want it to sound cool..

any ideas?

Re: Muffler?

All of the major muffler manufacturers have sound files that you can listen to. Here is the flowmaster sound clips: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/sound.html

I had the Flowmaster 40s on my car (when I bought it) and went with 50s since I did not want it that loud. It all depends on what you want.

Re: Muffler?

I have a 97 Sierra with the 5.7L and I put 40 series flowmaster and I think it sounds really good and isn't annoying at all. I have 2.5" duals all the way back to 3" chrome tips and it looks great and sounds that way too.

Re: Muffler?

The smaller the muffler the louder it gets. If you run a Flowmaster 50 and are still running cats it will not be to loud.
