Finally! Pics of myRace Car

Finally, i got pictures uploaded of my 93 Civic Si I picked up for the local dirt circle track. Right now its just before pictures, once the cage gets done and it painted Ill get some more pics.








I only paid $100 for the car, had to bolt the front suspension back together, gather up some wheels, which I now have 2 sets of Integra Aluminum 14" wheels for it. One of the exhaust valves was broken on it, so I swapped out heads from the motor a bought several years ago. The rings are bad in it, and kinda needs rebuild ASAP. For now hopefully it will work, and we will see how well it will keep up with everyone this saturday.

Soon im gonna pull the other block out of storage and rebuild it with some d16a1 pistons, probably stage 3 cam(maybe a stage 2), some head work, ported throttle body and intake manifold, and some heavy tuning. Motor is supposed to be stock, but the motor that is in it now has a header and the tech inspector thinks its stock since i knocked the tag off and painted it black.

Dude, rope and bungees are the fundamental building blocks of a vehicle...right behind duct tape and epoxy!

Well just got back from where the cage is being put in at and its almost done, just got some window bars to weld in and weld up the doors. Gonna go tomorrow and finish sanding and if its not raining, atleast get the primer done...which its just gonna be primer black, red numbers(gonna outline in white sometime), red/white stripe down the sides, red interior. Should have it over at the house in the next few days and once I get everything painted and bolted in I'll get some more pics.

As for the rope and bungees, the exhaust was disconnected at the cat, and car has been lowered, sooo, had to reach down from under the hood, and tie the exhaust up with rope. Then the hood latch didn't work, could have fixed it since i work at a salvage yard...buts its a race car, its gonna have hood pins and no place to even mount a latch, so the bungee worked.

Well got the car painted and ready this past Saturday and raced it that night. I was extremely pissed at the time because I expected a little more out of it than what I got.

#1: Automatic tranny sucks. At the starts of the race everyone runs off and leaves me. It will get up to speed to atleast keep up with some of them, but only after about 1/2 a lap. Got everything to swap it to a 5spd...other than time.

#2: Rings are shot. Plus side: no mosquitos! It still gets compression, but get gas in the oil, and smokes really bad. Don't know if because of the rings the computer is keeping it from going past 5500, or if I just need to get a timing light after it. Or could be fuel pump going out, still having a problem with fuel pressure. Randomly it starts cutting out and bouncing at 4k-4500, let up off the gas and its back to normal.

Gotta get the web cam installed on the new computer, but once I get that done, Ill get some new pics of it. The car look pretty good still, some spots in the paint thats messed up from water in the air lines, but its a race car, its gonna get beat up.

Yes it is Ami, but I've been here for so long, why go somewhere else to show off my toy. Plus we have the D-series queen here, who better to help me with my problems, lol.

Well here are some crappy pics of it now that the cage is in it and its been on the track.


My ghetto short ram intake made from a 93 Ford Ranger Intake hose and cone filter I found at work.


My pride and joy right now on the left, my ignition box that I can easily unplug and remove. And the 98 Teg gauge cluster. And ofcourse the 5spd that is kinda pushed too far forward(gotta figure that one out)





Right now I'm done with how it looks. Got a couple sponsor stickers to put on, but nothing else until I get the motor worked out. All I really have left on painting anyway is painting the rest of the interior to get rid of the green.

I think it will do good out here once I get the bugs out of the motor. Right now I loose all power past 3500(starts cutting out really bad, no back fires though), and they didn't run off and leave me like I would have though....still got lapped, which was expected, but for the fact I'm missing the main part of my power band, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I have some new plug wires coming this week cause those are shot. Gotta go get the timing cover off my spare motor and put it on this one so I can time it. Im only gonna get another fuel rail and regulator and hopefully that will fix whats wrong. If not, oh well, time to do a rebuild to the spare motor.

Finally it ran right. Took quite a few hours and a sun burn to get the timing right, but got it so it revs all the way to redline.

It was so nice to be able to keep up with the pack. now i just gotta play the tire, and tire pressure game and play with the suspension to keep me from spinning. I ended up spinning and hitting a hole and bent an axle so I still didn't finish any higher than I did when I was only hitting 3500. But once I get that figured out I should be doing pretty good out here.
