a/c condenser fan relay

Hello all. Sorry if this has been asked, I looked but couldn't find the answer. On my wife's 1996 transport, the fan at the a/c condenser under the hood does not come on. I asked at my local auto parts store for a relay, and they told me there isn't one (?) Could this part be called something else, and could anyone help point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any help,
wes

Re: a/c condenser fan relay

I think the '96 is quite similar to the '93...and the '93 did have relays for the fans:

They are just above the passenger side headlight.
FOr a test you can switch another in its place, they are the same. Notice they say the sequence shown is not necessary the one implemented on your specific vehicle.
...does the A/C itself work normally? THe fan and the A/C clutch will not work is the refrigerant pressure is too low...

Wes - Welcome to the forum!

I find it hard to believe that there is NOT a relay to control the fan(s). Maybe the parts guy was having a "bad day."
LMP has that link to the relays for a 93, and here is a link to the relays for a 2001 Venture.

I can look at my other manual later this week (road trip) if you still need it. In the mean time, I would jumper the fan directly to power (12 volts & ground) and make sure that is not your problem.

LMP,

It looks like you have been a "busy boy" in here today.
I don't know if anyone has said it recently, but THANKS for being here and all the good advice. (And I don't believe in "automotive" miracles)

Take Care,

Re: a/c condenser fan relay

Thank you very much for the help. It will be Saturday before I can work on it again due to my work schedule, I'll check then to see if I'm getting power to the fan motor itself or not. Would I be correct in assuming from the diagram that what I'm calling the condenser fan is actually called a "coolant pusher fan"? Thanks again for everything,
wes
