88 Ram Van running rich

Engine throwing out black smoke, just started..where do I begin....new injectors

well i thought the 88 van was carburated.

I mean mine is the 89 it has tbi injection. My manual says the 88 is carburated....

well I can say, first thing look at the area where the plugs are. is oil leaking from the valve cover gaskets into the spark plug holes


tighten all those things down.

I have a recurrent problem with that so maybe you do too seeing as you have the same valve covers I do.

has the check engine light come on at all?
