2000 Sebring engine tick

My 2000 Sebring engine 2.5 has developed a lifter tick. It happens when it starts the goes away for a while then comes back again at different times. Anyone have this yet? What have you done?

I know this may come across to you as a dumb question, but have you checked the engine oil level? My friend's SEBRING was making that similar engine "tick" noise and he didn't have any oil in it. I placed the only 3 cans I had at the shop and the noise was gone almost immediately.

Did you try switching to a synthetic oil? I have heard that helps some people.

Swithing to synthtic does not help sometimes,it make it worse.Read the owners manual and go what grade oil is recomended. My neighbors wife went through that, she put synthetic in her 1998 or 1999 S10 and the lifters rattled like crazy. She did drain the synthetic out and put what was recomended. The lifter rattling quieted down and went away after putting what was recomended

Re: 2000 Sebring engine tick

IF the lifter rattle is being caused by low oil pressure, putting Synthetic in it will make it worse. Synthetic flows much easier than Dino oil, so it will flow thru the engine with less resistance. If the oil pump is lame or the engine is worn out, you will have very little oil pressure.

Re: 2000 Sebring engine tick

dude, I had a chrysler LHS once and it would tick here and there, what I noticed that got rid of the tick was fuel injector cleaner....
Then I have a Dodge caravan that did that same thing your explaining,,,but even with oil in it, it would tick, then a coworker of mine suggested I try something,,,Granted my van has HIGH miles 107.000 miles so It might be expected from a high mileage engine.. But anyhow

I went to Autozone and got MARVELS MYSTERY OIL,,, this stuff works dude... My engine went quiet and was running smooth,,,great scam if you want to sell a car and dont want any engine noise,,, The bottle says to put some in the engine and fuel... gues it cleans out both...
But Hey, I swear this stuff was the only thing that got rid of that dam tick...
and I tried everything

Try it,,,
BTW,,,
Im insinuating that your car has HIGH MILES correct????
