watch/car starter

i've been getting into watches lately and found this:

it seems that Toyota is currently working on a wrist-watch that has a door unlock/lock feature and a remote start feature.

unfortunately i cannot anymore info on this.

but it seems kinda cool

what do you think? can you picture yourself in a 3 piece suit, walking to your lexus, and starting it up with your watch?

if anyone can find more info, it would be helpful

Re: watch/car starter

damn

you guys are too negative.

what if you get jacked?
what if the batteries die?
what if Christ comes back?
what if bush somehow gets elected a 3rd term?
what if we're all part of The Matrix?
what if Kaiser Wilhelm II returns from the grave?
what if China is secretly making a Chuck Norris clone army?

so negative...

Re: watch/car starter

it's not that different from what other companies have. lexus and mercedes both have this thing that's like the size of a credit card and when it's withing a certain range of the car you can open the doors and start the car without using an actualy key. same shit, just this one's in a watch.

Re: watch/car starter

Sell your car, lose your favourite watch?

What a fucking stupid idea. I have an inexpensive device that does all of the above - called a key.

Idiots.

Re: watch/car starter

I predict that we won't need keys for cars within , say , five years. Everything will be pushbutton on a remote device or a swipe card. Oz, you are SOOOOOOOOO behind the times,

Re: watch/car starter

Push button, remote or swipe card? I think it is you who is behind the times my friend.

Think: voice recognition, retina scan, fingerprint scan.

And it's going to be damn scary when it happens because not only do you lose your car to a thief - you also lose your right arm and an eye.

Re: watch/car starter

how about this,

why don't all of you just sell your cars and walk.

i mean, your statisically more likely to die in a car accident anyways.

infact, i suggest you live in a deep underground bunker and avoid society in general. how safer can you get then that?
right?

What if it caves in?

I think the watch idea would be kinda cool...at first. I tend to lose watches very easily.

Re: watch/car starter

you can't tell me you would only wear ONE watch all the time? i have two watches. i know people that have 3 or 4 just to match their outfits. do you have to buy 4 different watches also then? and then would you need a his and hers type watches? i know girls wouldn't like wearing a watch as big as mine.

it's a pretty cool idea though. and you would look pretty cool walkin up to your car after a meeting and just touching your watch.

Re: watch/car starter

What about driving ONE car for the rest of your life because you like the watch too much?
