TypeR with Spoon
Hi All,
Well I thought that I'd mention that last Friday my friend and I where going to Leathal Rides in Hamilton. My friend had to get an aluminum wing for someone. Anyways I noticed everyone bunching around this TypeR. I like TRs alot but what was everyone outside looking at? I thought maybe FI or something. So we went out there and I noticed a Spoon sticker on the door just under and behind the side view mirror. Hmmmm my friend at the store mentioned to me that he just spent over 2000 dollars (CDN) on Spoon headers and thousands on a SS Spoon Exhaust. I was like wow lets go and look at it. I looked and it was clean looking. The exhaust had a small muffler. He just got back from the track but I missed the times. I guess they just finished talked about the times and I didn't know anyone to ask. So anyways, someone asked the guy to start the car and give it some revs. I will have to say that it didn't sound that great to me. It was very quiet, maybe quieter than stock. In any case I'm sure the bolt ons add lots and lots of power. We laughed because my car is getting old and to get Ceramic headers in Canadian funds is like 800 dollars and SS ones are like 1100 dollars. I firgured that was too much for me. I don't race or anything I just like my car to have mods for better juice. Anyway my car has a few more years left for sure, mild metal crome plated headers from any manufacture from this store are $280CDN. I figured ok that will be a start and I can give them a try. For the 5 years of header life or more, if I take care of them, more than likely that 5 years is the life of my car. I didn't tell the Spoon group this because it was not the right place or time to talk about cheaper parts. Spoon parts are great though. Did you see the specs on some of the equipment and how they build them. Wow. In anycase I'm a hobbiest with a budget and it's fun. I guess the price of the Spoon stuff affected me. It really is to much. I know they are the best but I'm sure in this guys case, does it really matter that (not real times) he runs a 14.4 instead of an 14.35. hmmmm. Regards, Vince.
