How bad is gas mileage affected?

I was wondering. For you guys that have completed the engine mods to your vehicle, how did it affect your gas mileage? It says we have a 16 gallon tank on our 2g DSM's but everytime I have filled up the most I get in it is 13 when it is on E. I get about 235 to 250 miles on a tank of gas. The only thing I have added so far is the K&N filter system. I have plans for more upgrades but the way gas prices are going up because our Gov't is screwed up I am just wanting to get a feel for the impact.
Thanks in advance.

John

Re: How bad is gas mileage affected?

As long as you keep off the gas so your not boosting then you can still get really good gas mileage... I was gettin around 300-350 miles a tank when it was stock and driving easy... Once I did some basic mods and was driving it hard I would get around 200 miles... When I would drive it easy I would get around 250-275... Just depends on your driving style. I also noticed a big difference if your going from city, highway, or country driving. Despite gas prices I'm still building a built motor with a monster turbo... I guess we'll just have to see how it goes after that.

Re: How bad is gas mileage affected?

Yup, no problem.

I noticed in your sig you have 3rd gen lifters listed... As in 2000+ Eclipse lifters? Will they fit in 2g's and eliminate lifter tick?

Re: How bad is gas mileage affected?

your highway mpg will shoot up. The car doesn't have to spool the turbo all the time. Your city mpg, will all depend on your right foot and the size of your turbo

o and 3g lifters ftw

I usually get a week to a week and a half's worth of normal driving. Less than a week if I boost lol. I'm too lazy to do the math on the actual numbers.... boo math

Re: How bad is gas mileage affected?

Your gas mileage can actually go up if you get the car tuned for more power (leaner=less fuel=more power). There was a 400ish hp MR2 in SCC that got like 30+ mpg. And with a bigger turbo I would assume you would get better mpg since you're not boosting all the time like with the t25 (if you don't get on the gas a lot).
