Question Buying used and Towing with Eddie Bauer

I am looking at a 1992 Explorer with 87K on it and will need it to tow a combined weight, between boat and trailer, of about 3000Lb. Can anybody comment with any experience as to what the bumper on a Eddie B. edition with a two inch ball is capable of?

If you also have any advise pertaining to what to watch out for when buying one of these vehicles used, I'd appreciate getting your thoughts.

I think the tow limit off the bumper is right at 3000 lb. I would say spend a couple hundred bucks on a frame mounted reciever. You don't want to see your boat passing you by on the freeway. lol
