Aoshima VLS Supras out...
..err shall I say AMT garbage!!!!..is out... This doesn't suprise me. They still look like junk, no matter what brand they would be sold under
The only differences I can tell between these 2 kits, are the slight mods wiht the front bumpers. Way to go reboxed AMT![]() http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/GoodsDetai...right102_e.asp http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/GoodsDetai...right102_e.asp |

Re: Aoshima VLS Supras out...
The AMT Supra is nice, not perfect, but nice. The Tamiya kit is lightyears ahead if it though. I just wish that they would've tooled up a stockish interior. i'll wait till this one shows up in an AMT box for $10

Re: Aoshima VLS Supras out...
I am building the Tamiya Supra right now, and it is better. I think I will wait for the prices to fall, then find a tamiya supra for cheap and use parts from both kits.

Re: Aoshima VLS Supras out...
I'll still get them, even if it is the AMT, which I think has an undeserved bad rep. There are a few problems, nothing that can't be fixed, yet nearly everyone labels this kit as junk. The molds will probably be getting worn, these make this tooling at least the 5th re-kit.
I thought I saw a finished one on HLJ, but it looked nothing like the box! It was really edgey, very unattractive. Has anybody looked at the assembly pages for this thing? LOL Quote: "The AMT company produce this kit for advanced amatuers."

Re: Aoshima VLS Supras out...
Well, think of them as sets of ill-shaped body kits that come with AMT Supra
. They're kind of like 90s' Fujimi, i.e. S15, SW20 and Z32 with undersized resin parts! The fact of the matter is, you can cut and enlarge those 1/25 scale aero parts to fit the Tamiya kit, like some AF member did with either Fujimi's SW20 or Z32 Veiside kits, whose resin parts don't fit because they're too small. Since they're technically AMT kits, I was going to ask AMT whether they're going to release them on the State side or not, just like I normally ask any Japanese model companies, and this is what I found. <From AMT/ERTL website> Where can I find info on Future releases? Please visit our website www.rcertl.com for info on our future releases. Well, that didn't help, so I tried another section, and found the following statement. How can I submit a product idea to you? Unfortunately, neither RC2 nor any of its subsidiary divisions (RC Ertl, Learning Curve, The First Years and JoyRide Studios), can accept unsolicited product suggestions, concept or ideas. What?! ![]() ![]() ![]() On the other hand, Revell-Monogram says: "We're here to provide whatever assistance we can, and will work to find a reasonable response to your inquiry." Tamiya Japan's English page says: We have a suggestion for a new product. What should I do? Please submit the suggestion to us, we welcome feedback from our valued customers. Similarly, Fujimi, Aoshima and Hasegawa all have the similar statement in Japanese (I just visited all to make sure). And from my personal experience, when inquired in Japanese, both Fujimi and Aoshima wrote back to me in matter of a few days. I guess that tells you what kind of company AMT/ERTL is. I'll just order the Aoshima ones from Rainbow Ten or Best1. |

Re: Aoshima VLS Supras out...
Here we are:
http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS03497 Second picture. Now doesn't that look purdy? i don't kinow if this what a prototype or what, that swoop vent isn't in the hood and there appears to be an IC... but whatever it is it's sure ugly.I looked at the instructions on the 1999 Co page and it looks like they've improved the taillights, they are now pieces instead of just one (the originals looked awful)

Re: Aoshima VLS Supras out...
I hope the photos are prototypes. Otherwise the edges of the bodykit are just too sharp
Well... disappointing, but an understandable move from Aoshima, they also took a while to be released aswell. HLJ have just shipped mine, so let's see when they arrive.
