Re: front firing 12in subs

Well, you can but you'll probably lose some SQ unless you get creative with your enlcosure. What I've found is that you almost always need to build a ported box in a truck but that takes a lot of space compared to a sealed enclosure. I can't seem to find pictures but before my wife took over my truck, I had 2 Directed Audio 12" CompX subs in separate enclosures. They were only about 5"x13"x20" and I had them reversed mounted. The enlcosures filled the whole area between the sides of the seat braces and the hump. The magnet went up into the bottoms of the seat since there isn't much there. Man did it ever thump!

you could do 12's in a sealed box forward firing and it would sound fine. the problem is getting the seat raised. i looked into doing this, but i tossed the idea after reaizing how much of a pain it would be and how uncomfortable it would be. the seat already sits pretty high in the back and any higher people would be hitting there head on the ceiling. and then trying to make brakcets so that the seat can still hang on the read wall would be the biggest pain. for the floor you could just use square tubing and cut slots to be able to put nuts and bolts in them.
