1985 735 won't start

I just got a deal on a 735, I was going to use another I already have for parts to restore one. The problem is it will turn over but will not start. I have swapped all of the relays in the under-hood fuse box, swapped Motronix box, swapped dist cap still not fire. Got any suggestions on where to look at next.

Re: 1985 735 won't start

I'm confused. Why did you replace all the fuses inside the fuse box? Does this particular year have problems with fuses?

Engines need three things to run air, fuel, and spark. So obviously your not getting at least one if not more. So I suggested instead of swapping out parts, try testing for spark and fuel. I'm not sure how that year is set up, but you should have some type of mass air flow sensor. I know you can use a volt/ohms meter to check the continuity of the sensor. With spark check and make sure your getting spark from your spark plugs. Maybe clean your crankshaft sensor. Hook up a gauge to your fuel rail to make sure that you’re getting the proper fuel pressure. Good Luck and hopefully it's nothing internal.

I recently had the same problem and I had the crank sensor replaced and then it started, but then after I brought the car home for a few days, I had the same problem. I am still trying to find out what the problem is.

Re: 1985 735 won't start

My dad has a 1985 735 that he is not using anymore. He is selling his car. The car is black exterior/black interior. The car has a lot of parts to use. The problem with the car is that it doesn't reverse sometimes. He is the 2nd owner. He is selling it since he doesn't have space for the car. He just bought another 1985 735. I guess he just likes the car. If anyone is interested in buying it or wanted to come by and check it out, let me know and I can arrange something. The car is in Los Angeles, CA and will be available to show anytime. It is a good car for either parts or if you have time to fix it. It is one of those cars that still has a look to it even though its a 21 year old car(not that old cars don't look nice). Make an offer and its yours. You can call me at 310-877-6661 or email [email protected]
