98 Corolla Brake Pads and Rotors

I'm not the most knowledgable car owner
I need my brake pads in back replaced ($145 was the quote)
and pads AND rotors in the front replaced($297 quote)
I've got 100,000 miles on the car

How do these prices sound?
Is it something that people can do theirselves (not me, but I've got some friends that are pretty good around with cars)? Or do I have to bite the bullet?

Thanks!

Re: 98 Corolla Brake Pads and Rotors

Find out how much the parts cost and how much the labor is. Many auto parts suppliers have online parts catalogs that list prices.
Look to see if autozone.com has a free repair guide available for your car so that you can check to see if any special tools are required to do the job.

Disc brakes and rotor replacement is one of the more simple projects for a do it yourself car repair. Your cost will be half. I would pick up a Haynes manual for your car or like mentioned above check auto zone for a repair guide.

Start and finish one wheel at a time so you can use the otherside as an example of what it should like fully assembled.
