I got to check out a 700 hp 5.0 today :)

Hey all,

I had to drive out to my Dad's mechanic in Garden Grove to get my car fixed (still isn't fixed... injectors leaking inside the motor or somethin ), and on a lift in the shop I got to look at the 5.0 that the shop works on for this rich guy...

Its made for some road race that they hold up in Vegas or something. Since it was up on the lift, I only saw the bottom of it and the engine compartment... I didn't ask all what they did to it, but the owner of the shop told me its supercharged and dyno'ed at 500 something at the rear wheels... He said they estimated the hp at the crank to be about 700 or so... I think he was overestimating a bit...

Anyways, My Dad told me it cruises at 160, and can go over 200 mph... Its bad ass, next time I go there (might be next week sometime) I'll take my digital camera and see if they will let me take some pics...

My Dad is good friends with the shop owner and I told him to see if he can work out a spin around the block for me... with me riding as passenger of course :P

I guess the guy that owns it put over 80k in the car, and owns a whole bunch of other cars, some classics, a Viper, some old Corvettes, a Ferrari... I wanna meet this guy

Something seems fishy to me!!

i dont doubt you saw a 700hp 5.0... They're out there.

But Dyno'd at 700hp and approx. 500hp at the wheels...

Does a loss of 200hp traveling less than 3ft NOT seem ODD?!?!?

if its really making 700hp, it should be making around 650hp at the wheels. If we muscle car guys lost 200hp fromt he crank to the wheels... we'd never get anywhere!

That race you're speaking of, Its badass... its In northern Nevada/Souther Utah. They close 90 miles of open highway which ranges from twisties to long stretches... and people build cars such as that Mustang.. or bring Ferrari's and Lambos and race in speed brackets... you're supposed to keep an average speed to stay within your alotted bracket. Example, if you have a GEO! and want to race (why?) and you say you'd like to be in the 34mph Bracket, you have to average 34mph over the entire distance. Easy? Try it.. when the road doubles back 2309828028034 times and you're stuck in 2nd Gear.

I WANNA DO IT! I plan to build me a Unstoppable machine.... the RACE FIERRO!... shhh stop laughing!.

toodles!

hahaha I suppoooseeeeee that could be the problem, but highly doubt thats it...

with 80k into the car you'd think the rest of the vehicle was cared for... i mean if the guy spent 80k on a 5.0 that makes 700hp... he got gyped hahahah. but im sure its not on JUST the engine... at least i hope not!

Ok, the guy told me it dyno'ed at 500 to the wheels, he said they *estimated* it at 700 at the crank *shrugs*

Also, the guy didn't spend 80k on the engine alone, there is a lot of work done to the suspension, and brakes, and all that... I don't know what they did tho, but everything looks brand new/upgraded

Anyways... its a fast ass car... and I thought I made it clear in my first post that I didn't belive it had 700hp at the crank

Yo RedNeck... whats that race called that you're speaking of? I've heard of it before, and seems very very interesting. Any idea of how much it costs to run there? and does the car have to be street legal?

:badass: I drove my friends '87 Cobra that he droped a 427 stroker into. Now that was badass. He claimed 600 hp and im not sure but we hit 110 faster than i have ever known. And we were loaded down with 5 people. It was kindof cramped in the back.
