Back in the Saddle!! 6.6403 @ 102.68

That would be mine and the car's fastest trip down a drag strip ever. Had a couple better mphs (103.43, 103.20, and 102.98), but that was my best ET from yesturday at Cherokee Raceway Park in Rogersville, TN (www.cherokeeracewaypark.com).

I'll let the two time slips do the talking. The one on the left has my best ETs in all the distances to date, and the one on the right has my best mph to
date.

I wound up going 3 rounds yesturday, so I got a total of 6 passes. First run off the trailer the car was pretty sick, and because of that, I was even sicker, lol. But we backed the time up to 36 degrees from 40 degrees, and adjusted the valves (which were not even close to being right, I only had 4 and a 1/2 cylinders hitting good, lol) and that cured it! Here's all my runs:

RT: -.0299
60ft: 1.5340
330ft: 4.5659
594ft: 6.6628
660ft: 7.1319
mph: 95.92

RT: .0170
60ft: 1.4361
330ft: 4.2711
594ft: 6.2219
660ft: 6.6570
mph: 103.43 (best mph)

RT: -.0121
60ft: 1.4370
330ft: 4.2739
594ft: 6.2331
660ft: 6.6723
mph: 102.46

Index: 6.65
RT: .0019
60ft: 1.4292
330ft: 4.2560
594ft: 6.2080
660ft: 6.6440 (broke out, but the other car broke out worse)
mph: 103.20

Index: 6.63
RT: .0478
60ft: 1.4180 (best 60')
330ft: 4.2461 (best 330)
594ft: 6.2021 (best 594)
660ft: 6.6403 (best ET)
mph: 102.68

Index: 6.62
RT: .0120
60ft: 1.4189
330ft: 4.2518
594ft: 6.2080
660ft: 6.6449
mph: 102.98

I'm pretty pleased with my new engine. And overall, I'm pleased with how I did yesturday. I lost a tough round in that last one. The other guy cut a .0090 light and went 5.7838 on a 5.78 dial, so that was almost perfect. The run I put together would win more rounds then it would lose, but thats just how close bracket racing is!

Either way, I've got some fire under the hood now in little Casper, lol . Get a few more runs under its belt, some fine tuning, and cooler weather and 6.50s here I come! LOL.

They say 6.40 in the 1/8th is 9.90 in the 1/4. There's several factors that actually determine what you'll run, but that's the general rule. So, I figure I could maybe go 10.30?? Not sure.

At the 1/8th mile, I was turning about 6800 rpms or so, and it was still pulling strong, and its supposed to pull strong to 7200 rpms, and it'd be turning every bit of that and probably more at the 1/4 stripe.

I dont know man, lol. I'm going to a track this weekend thats marked off for a 1/4, but my class only runs an 1/8th. I'd hate to wind it too tight with the current set up and break something, lol, but I may hold it a little past the 1/8th and see how many rpms its turning, and I may try a 1/4 pass. I'd like to know what'd it actually do, lol.

That's right. My chassis is certified to run 8.50 untill 2009.

Wow. That's one fast car. I'd love to see some 9 second 1/4 times from that car. You only have 2 gears, right?

Ahhh so you readjusted your Vtec controller and that made all the difference right!?

Now you've gotta add a wing and some neons. C'mon, don't puss out on me now.

Good runs bro.

Re: Back in the Saddle!! 6.6403 @ 102.68

Thanks everybody. Its a long way from the 1.57 60', 7.43 @ 90 mph pass that the little 355 managed last season, lol. 1.41 60's with both front tires over a foot off the ground are awesome!

Yeap. Built GM Powerglide, 2 spd. automatic with manual valve body, pro trans. brake, and 1.76:1 input shaft.

Like I said, I was turning somewhere around 6800 rpms at the finish line, and its supposed to pull strong to 7200 rpms (it was def. pulling hard at the 1/8th mile), so it MIGHT would be able to run a 1/4. I'm thinking though that it'd quit pulling somewhere around a 1000 feet with my current gear. 4.88 gear would cure that though, lol, if I ever wanted to race a 1/4 mile all the time.

Re: Back in the Saddle!! 6.6403 @ 102.68

Best so far is a 14.1 @ 99; all stock with no spare. I've averaged a 14.2-3 trapping anywhere from 94 (yeah wtf) to 98

I'm planning for 4.57 gears (4.11 stock) this summer, which will supposedly drop me down into the mid 13's at best, but I have no idea how it will affect my trap speeds. Any ideas?

Well, it will more then likely pick your ET up. It doesn't always work that way, but it probably will pick your ET up. It really depends on the power range of your engine. I mean you can go with too short of gear and kill your engine out just like you can be too tall and kill it out.

Your trap speeds will probably go up slightly, but not too much. If you shave your ET, you'll see the biggest gains in the short times, and you know the trap speed is based on how long it takes you to travel that last 66 feet.

My uncle's car trapped 106 mph with a 5.13 gear in the 1/8th. With a 6.00 gear, it trapped 108 mph. His ET went from 6.52 to 6.39. So .13 seconds and roughly 2 mph. His 60' went from a 1.45 to a 1.40 though. His 330 times went from 4.20 to 4.10.
