I'm having problems with my shifter cable on my 98 Tahoe. First it was hanging up down in the lower gears, and then I discovered it had a lot of corrosion in the cable end. Now I put it back together and it moves freely, but it won't shift all the way up into Park... Yes, this is kind of necessary! If I don't set the E-brake it rolls away!
You can read all the events that lead up to this at this Tahoe forum post. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=546372 I just thought this Silverado forum may have some clues, as they all share the same shifter/trans setup I believe. Is there any adjustment within this assembly anywhere? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Re: Help, won't shift into Park!
Can you disconnect the cable and shift it into part using a screw driver or pliers?
That would tell you if it is a cable issue or internal transmission problem. //2000CAYukon |
