99 windstar oil filter location

Where is the oil filter on 99 windstar 3.8L and whats the easiest way to get to Thanks

It is on the passenger side just behind the radiator. It is difficult to get to. I use one of those plastice oil filter removers that grab the bottom of the filter. It is almost impossible to remove and get out without spilling half of the contents.

Thanks. might be worth paying for a oil change. Oil pan easy enough to get to but couldn't even see oil filter

It's best to have the front wheels up on a SAFE ramp of a few inches. If you lie on your back and look up toward the serpertine belt ... you can hardly miss it.

After you first loosen the filter, use both hands to remove ... one twisting the filter, the other holding a large shop rag under the filter in an effort to catch the oil spill.

A year or so ago it seems all oil filters for the Windstar got a wee bit smaller in diameter ... the "cup" wrench that I originally used no longer fits very well.
