Unhappy Trans Service/Major Trans issues follow

Yesterday i did a trans service on my 2000 Blazer LT. All went well and as planned. That was until i got in it, started it and attempted to drive it. Reverese worked fine, but when i tried a forward gear it acts as if i am towing a house.

What i mean is, it barely moves. I have to get it to 2 grand in rpm's to even get it to budge. Well i then proceeded to do 2 more tranny services only to find that the same problem persists. New filters and fluid was used each of the 3 times i did it.

My Blazer is a 2000 LT, 4x4, 4 door. Before this i had no issues with the trans. I am lost and have no idea what the prob is or what direction to go. I looked and saw nothing unplugged as far as connectors o the trans goes.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Reverse and no forward points to electrical.
In forward gears does it just slip or is it locking up
If you have a scanner check for codes and post back code no.
Also take a close look at the fuse boxes for a blowed fuse.

Re: Trans Service/Major Trans issues follow

Thanks for the tips. Is there a certain fuse i should look at?

Also as far as forward gears...it doesnt really feel like slippage. It is not locked up. It is just sluggish. Its like it has no power. When you put it in reverse you can feel it go in, that feel of it goin into gear. When you go into drive, 1 ,2 ,and 3 you can feel it go into gear but it is so slight. Nothing like when you shift into reverse.

I do not have a scanner.

The fuse may say transmission but check all of them to be sure.
Jack up rear end and make sure the emg brake is not sticking on.
And run a code check on it.

Re: Trans Service/Major Trans issues follow

I rented an OBD II scanner from Autozone. I hooked it up, no codes were present. I checked all the fuses with a test light on both sides all were functional. The emergency brake is not on, i tried it with it on in reverse (the one gear thats workin right) and it barely moves and it moves fine when the emergency brake is off. So i am guessing it is not stayin engaged.

If i didnt shave my head i would have pulled my hair out by now. lol Anything else you can think of off the top of your head. Thank you again.

I believe the main fuse for the tranny on your 2000 is number 11. Probably says something like "cluster"

Check to make sure that the electrical connectors are tight.

Did you use the right filter? There are two different ones available. One is for shallow pans and and the other is for deep pans. You have to use the right one. If your pan is flat, you have a shallow pan. If it is stepped, you have a deep pan. Most Blazers came with a shallow pan.

You may also experience that problem if the filter isn't properly seated.

Re: Trans Service/Major Trans issues follow

From what i can tell i got the filter seated right. The little seal that comes with it was a tight fit and had to be helped up into the valve body with a socket. The filter seemed to be in place. All 3 that i did ended up in the same way.

I used the filter for a deep pan. The pan is deep than in the back 2.5 inches or so recede upwards. The filter that was initially in it looks exactly like the ones i tried. All fuses were checked even ones not associated with the drivetrain. All checked out ok.

The fun continues, lol.

Can you please see if your cable is installed right. Also disconnect it and have someone move the lever to see if it is binding.

I assume you mean the shift cable? If that is the case...i did that last night. We left it unhooked and my buddy laid besides the truck and hand shifted it into gear with no luck or change.

The end of the cable has a rubber boot on it that does seem to bind somewhat. To be honest i dont really know what it is supposed to look like in action but when it is engaed the boot seems to bind somewhat, kinda like a snake going in an "S" shape. It doesnt seem to pull straight back. Not sure if this is an issue or not.

Re: Trans Service/Major Trans issues follow

Get a good transmission/engine capable scanner on it and see if it picks up anything. If any codes post back code no.
