Tamiya 1/20 BMW Williams FW24
As promised, here is the progress thread of my BMW Williams FW24.
I will be building this kit using the Scale Motorsport super detail kit as well as the usual Machined bits and pieces by myself. Here is the engine, transmission and rear suspension with a few modifications ![]() ![]() ![]() Next I turned my attention to the steering wheel. Here are the step by step pictures showing some of the work involved. The suede effect is achieved by using Modelers interior spray. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally, the completed wheel including 10 machined parts! ![]() More updates soon!

Re: Tamiya 1/20 BMW Williams FW24
Super work Robrex. I especially like the work you have put into the rear suspension elbows and attachments. I know from experience just how fiddly the stock items area so can really appreciate what you have done. I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but if you are planning to fit the rear cowling note that the stock part doesn't fit very well into the hole above the gearbox for it. I read that on another site and was glad to as you have to make it a bit bigger or the rear cowling tends to bend to shape. Also, the rear wing fits on top of the square box, so be careful with the decals... I spent ages on decalling it only to remove them to fit the wing!

Great work!!!
Steering wheel looks great, the red "closers" (no idea how the are called) in the exhaust are a nice detail

Re: Tamiya 1/20 BMW Williams FW24
Rob, seriously dude, cool it with the awesome models, 'k? You're too dang good, and I can't keep up with your posts!
![]() In all serious-ness, please don't stop sharing your work with us! It's mind-bending to think of these things as "scale models" when yours look more like museum-pieces or something built by NASA scientists.

Re: Tamiya 1/20 BMW Williams FW24
Looking great! The same high level of detail we've come to expect from you.
Although... I think now we'd like to see a working rear light which flashes red when it rains, fully functional front and rear suspension, and a working brake system which actually requires brake fluid. *grin* Good work Rob! |

Awesome!!
I've got a FW24 waiting for building, but it's very difficult to find engine pictures... Could you post some links or something to help me? Very very great job, congratulations
