Ignition Problems

A friend of mine has a B2000. Yesterday it lost fire to the plugs. a month ago he replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Yesterday he replaced the module and ignition coil with now results. Today he replaced the pick-up and the truck cranked an ran for about a mile and again lost fire. Both sided of the coil are hot as are both sides of the module. Is there something that could have shorted out in the distributor? There is no undue play from side to side or up and down to indicate wear. About the same time all this happened the left front turn signal came on and stays on so long as the ignition switch is on. Any help or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: Possible ground fault?

Truck cranked back on its own and turn signal went off... But the clamp for the coil (which had the ground attached to it) had just been painted. (Its my buddies 19 yr old son's truck.) This was noticed AFTER the truck cranked back up. Also R&R the chassis ground AFTER it cranked back. Won't know.... Less it does it again.

Re: Ignition Problems

Bad ignition switch? Bad ground wire from battery (they corrode up inside the covering and are hard to detect.) BJ

Re: Ignition Problems

Don't have time tonight to get involved with diagnosing, its probably not a faulty ground, that wouldn't cause the coild and pickup to get hot. Make sure the wires on the pickup are in the right places, I think if your looking at it installed the wire with the boot on it should be on stop. The pickup is made of a coil and transistor, if you put the wires on backwards it will fry the crap out of it.

Coil shouldn't be getting hot like that, it may be bad or something may be wired wrong. There are a couple of wire diagrams on mazdatruckin that might help, I'm still trying to upload more. Look in the B2200 tech section, most of the stuff should be the same or close enough for the B2000.
