What mods do you have planned this year?

Just curious what anyone else might be doing to their cars this year since I have quite a bit planned for the GTC and even a few things for the Sebring. I figured I better get my ass in gear since it’s creeping on the two year mark since I got the car home and all I've done is get bigger wheels and tires. So here is what I have planned.

1. I really want to get the damage to the driver's side fixed, even if that means not getting it painted yet. That would most likely include re-skinning the door, replacing the 1/4 panel, and fixing the gaps.

2. I’m going to do the brakes. All this would entail is Brembo blanks all around. I’m going with the stock sizes, all vented, 11 1/4" in the front and 10" in the rear. I’m keeping the stock calipers but they will be removed along with the knuckles and painted black. While I'm in there I'm replacing the lines with steel braided units. Then I’m going to re-assemble it with Hawk pads. Anyone have suggestions on some good brake fluid?

3. I need to take it in to the dealer to find that damn vacuum leak as well as why I am hitting the boost cut so early.

4. After getting those two things fixed I am going to install a ground wire kit, an Autometer Cobalt 30/30 boost/vac gauge, and install a battery relocation kit.

5. Then it will be off to the dyno to get a baseline before doing any mods to the engine.

6. After getting the baseline I am replacing the stock, restrictive, exhaust with a full 3" mandrel bent system from the turbo back. The new turbo and headers will come later. Today I am going to go listen to a guy that has a similar setup using a Dynomax Bullet muffler. I want a Borla XR-1; let's see if he can change my mind before I order.

7. I want to replace the vacuum system using a vacuum manifold and silicone tube.

8. I would also like to get the interior completely swapped out done by the end of the year.

9. If there is enough I would like to start the suspension but that will most likely be a project for next year.

I've got some photochops of the new and the old GTC with a guess of how it will look after the suspension is done. I will have to lower it an inch since I can't find performance springs that don't lower the car. The dent is also fixed. For the Sebring I just need to replace the speakers in the dash since one of them is blown and I might get a new head unit as well.

Anyhow, here are the pictures, let me know what you think and post up what you have planned for the summer.

For this year, the whole car is getting ripped apart and put back together.

The whole car is a mod.

I think he said your car is just a non-turbo V6.

Yeah, I know. Circumstances right now are pretty drastic. I'll call him today and let him know what's going on. I feel pretty bad making him wait so long for this to happen. What can I say? I'm on Indian time...

Nope, not at all. GTC stands for Grand Touring Coupe. Not all GTCs are turbo-charged. They were from 1988 to 1990. In 1991 the GTC had the added option of a V6 as well as the Turbo I. In 1993 the GTC could only be had with the V6 as the Turbo I was dropped after the 1992 model year. The Turbo I is rated at 150HP and 210 ft/lbs of torque, the Turbo II/IV is rated at 174HP and 210 ft/lbs of torque, and the 3.0L V6 is rated at 140HP and I am not sure about the torque but it isn't near the turbo motors.

No, there were actually a lot of turbo LeBarons, granted they were Turbo I cars. The Turbo II and the Turbo IV were hard to find in a LeBaron. I have production numbers if you're interested. My car has a stock 30/15 vac/boost gauge. Pre 89 Turbo I cars had a 15/7 vac/boost gauge I believe.

Re: What mods do you have planned this year?

For me:

Up next is changing the differential fluid to synthetic.
Then in about a month I'll paint my brake calipers red and put S2000 stickers on them (perfect ricer mod)
Probably about June I'll get an alpine head unit and something that will let me keep the stock radio controls
End of summer will be headrest speakers
Fall Amuse lip

Re: What mods do you have planned this year?

Ive got a lowering kit in my room I am going to put on(front springs and lowering shackles), but Im waiting for my bilsteins to come in so I can put those on at the same time. Want to get a catted bassani x-pipe and dynomax bullet "mufflers" on the exhuast side(maybe some shortie headers too). Also need an eaton rear and traction bars. Might not get it all done but its on the list.
