Metro Run on

I just bought a 95 Metro 5spd it has 105000 miles on it. There is a egg smell from the exhaust and the flange connecting the exhaust pipe to catalytic is leaking. The car has 150 psi compression on all four cylinders. I put new plugs, cap, wires. It is hard to start cold or hot but will start. The firing order has been checked, I have not dug into adjusting valves yet. The car will run on when I shut it off. Could this be a fuel related problem it has what appears like a throttle body. Or is it emmmission related. When it idles it sounds like it has a miss. There is spark going to all cylinders. I check for a manifold leak by squirting wd40 around the manifiold, no change in rpm. No codes on computer. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Metro Run on

About 15 years ago I had a Nissan Sentra that run on. Once the engine was hot it did not run very well. I checked everything, changed a bunch of stuff...

After two week, I took it to the mechanics. Took him 5 minutes to tell me that the main engine fuse had blown. Took 1 minute to replace. Never blew again.

A blown fuse prevents fuel cut off valve from activating.

Worth a check (Check all fuses)

Seb

Re: Metro Run on

you can also check the timing ive had it do that before but it could be a lot of carbon build up on the pistons but a cleaner should help with that. also check your thermostat if its faulty it will cause it to diesel. good luck
