release bearing

i removed the 5-speed from my 1991 s10,the release bearing fell out.. just to make sure, does the big side of bearing go toward the motor or tranny.. thanks

Not sure what you mean by the "big side", but the fingers of the pressure plate have to ride on this bearing, so you would want that surface pointed towards them. The bearing should be built so this is obvious.

"the big side" of the throw out bearing should go towards the tranny side. You do'nt want it to go the other way as my brother found out the hard way...
