crank pully issues

im rebuilding the head on my 96 esi , and cant get the crank pully off, i have a puller on there, tried an impact wrench ,heat torque wrenches and what have you, and the thing still hasnt budged, i dont really care bout it any more, it can be replaced ... i jsut want to get it off ... help

I pulled the 4 little bolts out of it and mine practically fell off... Something doesn't sound right at all if yours won't come off that easy... You did take the bolts out of it, right?

thats on the 420a? from what i could tell there was only the big bolt in the center ... and books or anyhting i looked at never mentioned any more...

No, thats on the 4g63t... I don't know too many pulleys that only use a single bolt in the center... There should be 4 little bolts all around the center of the pulley and they should come out with ease.

Dasshue, it's a BITCH to get it off the first time. I stripped out two pullers before mine decided to come off. You have to get a long ass bolt and just keep cranking on it until it comes off. Try hitting it a bit with a hammer before you try pulling it off to vibrate it and loosen it up a bit (same idea as getting off drum brakes). It'll eventually come. And if you think its hard getting off, just wait until you get to put it back on, that's even more fun. What I did when I got it off was take some emery cloth and polish up the crank end a little bit and inside the pulley where it slides on, it seemed to go on a BIT easier.
