Shaving antenna affect CD Player?
I'm about to take my Civic to the shop to have my door trim and antenna shaved and I need to know if shaving my antenna will affect my audio system in any way. I'm pretty sure my radio reception will be fucked up but will it affect my CD player? :help:

I have no experience in this, but I see no reason why it would in any way effect your CD or tape deck. Yeah your radio reception might blow, but otherwise it should be normal...

I'm 99% sure it won't affect your CD PLAYER. It will, most likely, affect your reception. For a little test, go unplug your antenna from your CD player and see what it does and what stations you can pick up. If you go get one of the k-mart universal ones and put it somewhere like in your back window, but hide it good, you should get your fair share of stations. Or you could always invest in satellite radio

Your reception will blow, but it won't affect your cd/mp3/tape. Your HU is reading information off of whats in it. The antenna only affects the radio.

hello mate.Your headunit will not suffer apaprt fromy our radio singal. Most of your singal ( i take it you guys there are on f.m. too) will be ok some wont your am/mw reception will be none/kaput nill zero so if you can live without it then fine .if you listent o radio then i would install a "Indoor" ariel. They are common and can be loacted at shops /retailers in your country. All you have to do is "GROUND" yor ariel and you can do that in your car.A simple test would be cut a lengh of cable ( single flexible core/ mutli strande) run it along yuor fire wall or along any lengh of your car that is not visible. If you can live with the reception of the cable which of corse you will be plugging into your ariel socket at the back of you headunit. then thats fine as what you hear is what you will begetting. aNOTHER OPTION IS TO INSTALL A !"BEE STING ARIEL" which looks find i think an dwould suit most hatchbacks and saloons. My thought is with the first option which is to fit a indoor amplified arieal which youi can mount to the inside of your windscreen.Let us know how you get along mate .

it won't affect CD playback unless your CD player ground is crappy, and it is drawing the ground from the antenna ground

they used to all be grounded .... maybe I should measure a few from the newer cars to see. It used to be a big source of noise when I first started installing (like 20+ years ago - before CD players), maybe they have wised up a little.

In my girlfriends 240sx the cd player would not come on unless the antenna was plugged into the back. Im guessing the cd player used it as a ground. But you may have that problem if you disconnect it
