Why so long?

I have got a Plymouth Voyager which is one of the batch that was recalled. I'm over in United Kingdom so did not know anything about the recall until my ABS lights came on and stayed on. It then went into the garage and they could not fix it. It is now down as the Chrysler dealer. They carried out the recall but had to order in a part for the ABS system. This was almost the beginning of January. It is now the end of March and the part has still not arrived. Chrysler UK at the company who are importing I think it's totally unacceptable that this part is taking so long to come. I have been told that it is on backorder. Why would it take so long, surely they could have sent it by now, they could have made it by now from scratch. I am honestly at the end of my tether. I am disabled and need my car from my independence. Keeping the car away for so long has made my life extremely difficult at the moment. Just wondered what your thoughts were

Welcome! Chrysler has a bad habit of putting parts on National Backorder and it takes months or longer to get any parts. Sometimes the original vendors go out of business and they have to find another one.

Is this part supposed to be replaced free under the recall?
If you have to pay for the part than they should get it anywhere they can, if you have a part number I can search some here in the US and see what I can come up with. I'll help if I can. [email protected]
What year,model,engine do you have?

Why did you buy a $40K vehicle and not a $100 Factory Service Manual?

Re: Why so long?

The fact your ABS light is on only indicates the ABS system has been deactivated. This does not mean you have no brakes. This only means your van will come to a stop as normal but without the anti-skid qualities of ABS. There are thousands of cars on the road that don't have ABS. I'm saying you should be able to drive your van while waiting for the part to come in. Check with the dealer.
