1994 Gmc Sierra Problem * HELP *

Lately i have been hearing a knock comming from my front driver side tire and i dont know what it is. I was told i need to replace one of my u-joints but wasn't told exactly which one. Also i was thinking that it may be my wheel bearing but i dont know for sure because i had one go out on my 90 buick and it was real noticable at speeds over 40mph. But on the truck it seems to only make this sound when either im backing up slowly or slowing down.

Im confused to what else it could be. If anyone has any suggestions please help.

And, if u do know what it may be is the job worth bringing it to a mechanic or just buying the parts and doing it myself?

Do you have a C or K? 1500, 2500, 3500?

Does it do it going over a bump? Does it go away when you apply the brakes?

It is a k-1500 and it does it more and more when im either slowing down or if im reversing slowly. It does not mk the sound while going over any bump. And, this has been going on for atleast a few weeks after we got the truck back from the mechanics and i never heard this sound befor so i dont know exactly what could be the problem.

Alright, since you have a K1500, it could be the CV Joint on the drivers side. You should remove the wheel and look at the CV boot to see if it is broken or not. If it broke, dirt will get into the CV joint and it will go back.

I would think that if it was the wheel bearing, you would hear it all the time.

I am surprized that you did not hear it going over a bump but glad it will get fixed for a reasonable price.
