Bought a GSX :)

I bought a GSX. Its a 1997, with a few mods. I have a small problem with the car that is driving me crazy. Its trying to stall when I give it gas and take my foot of the gas the rpms' play and its trying to die. Its got Apexi 3" exhaust, Big 16G turbo, e-manage Greddy management system. I cannon figure out why it is trying to stall. Everything is good and new. Sometimes it backfires but very very rarely. Any imput ? Thx

Re: Bought a GSX :)

I had the same problem when my return tube had a huge hole it it and more air was going into the turbo then the MAF registerd. Do you know if the settings on the E-manage are right, or if your MAF is hacked? Have you played with your bliss screw?

Re: Bought a GSX :)

The E manage is currently off. Its connected but its just showing a lot of information but not connected because I dont want to mess with it yet. The car is currently on stock boost. The air filter box has been removed and I just put a new filter on. What do you mean by MAF hacked ? Also where is this bliss screw ? I am just getting into 4g63 so pardon my stupidity. Also you know how the turbo engines have this knocking sound from the valves, any way to make it quiet ?

Thanks

Re: Bought a GSX :)

I heard lifter tick isn't really a big deal, to my knowledge it isn't that harmful, I think lol

Re: Bought a GSX :)

Hacked maf= person took out your honey combs to try and make it flow better.
lifter tick= hey at least you knows its a dsm(dont worry about that until you rebuild it one day)
bliss screw= on top of your intake manifold

Not to intrude on this thread, but I kind of have the same problem. My maf is missing the honey combs, you guys think that is most likely the problem since now that I think about it, it started doing that after I removed the honey combs during the installation of most of my parts.

Re: Bought a GSX :)

The biss screw is on the top of your throttle body, on some its covered by a little rubber thing. mine wasnt. Back it out to raise the idle, screw it in to lower it. I would guess you can play around with it to fix your problem.

Re: Bought a GSX :)

Acutlay it sound like you're haveing problems with your fuel curves. If you don't have a data logger I suggest getting one, it will help you tune the car. With the lifter tick, that is actualy realy easy to fix. All you need is some 3G lifters, and a pry bar. I found out how to swap lifters with out taking off the cam shafts, so it only takes about 10 to 15 minuts.

I highly doubt that would cause his problem, mine has been vented for over three years without a problem.

Re: Bought a GSX :)

With the car having an Evo III 16G on it, the previous ouner proably installed a stronger fuel pump and injestors to keep it from detonating, and if the fuel curves are no done proporly you you can have this problem. I had a huge problem with stalling untill I got my MAFT tuned right

Actually you do have a problem, no doubt about it, you've just gotten used to it, but I guarantee you spool slower inbetween shifts and you are running rich as hell. I'm not knocking you though, I'm venting too, but not by choice.

The only problem I have is going rich between shifts, Im on a t-25 and spool as fast as anyone else running one. The car came vented and I never spent the money to change it. It has never had a stalling problem. So like I said before I highly doubt that that venting to atmosphere will cause his problem.
