Pop Pop! Like someone's knuckle cracking...

I was wondering if someone could help with this noise I have. When my car sits overnight, or at least 4 or 5 hours, I get a popping noise when I first drive it. When I back out of a parking spot or driveway first thing in the morning and hit the brakes the first time or two, it sounds like something in the front left wheel pops or cracks. It only happens once, then it's fine, and it's only one pop, not a bunch. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
