I just bought an alarm with remote start and was wondering how hard it is to hook up to a manual transmission. Anyone have this yours? I have a 2000 TJ.

Re: Anyone have or hooked up remote start to a manual transmission Jeep?
it is NOT reccomended to put a remote starat on any vehicle with a manual transmission!!!!!!!!!!
with that being said, it could be done, however, it would have to be hooked up so that it would NOT start when in gear! also, you'd have to bypass the factory neutral safety switch, so that it could start without having to have the clutch pressed. it would also be a good idea to hook something up to the E-break, so that the remote start would only activate if the E-break was set. basically, if you were to try to do this, you would want it set up so that the remote start would NOT activate unless, the transmission is in neutral, AND the e-break IS set.

Sounds like a LOT of hosing up the electronics. Not worth it IMO.

Re: Anyone have or hooked up remote start to a manual transmission Jeep?
It's not alot of work, if you just remember to stop leaving it in gear. A buddy of mine has done it to 3 TJ's (2 of his, and a girlfriends). He said it took 30 minutes. He also told me the story of what happens when you leave it in gear(he did it once in his 1st one).
