Omg!!! Ahhh!!!! Help Me Please!!!!

Hey guys, my car is fuking up! sorry for the language! Well, here's the deal, lets say i am cruzin at normal speed, and then i give more gas, my car's RPMs go up, but i dont go any faster! Its like if my clutch was bing pressed down, but its not!!! I can drive as long as i dont rev higher then 3500!!! Has this happened to anyone else?

FourthGenHatch told me that it may be the clutch problem. Can anyone back up his opinion by making it a fact?

PLEASE GUYS! HELP!! PLEASE!!! HELP!!!!!

I had the same prob when my clutch went out. You press the gas but it acts like the clutch is in. the clutch is slipping. It is a true sign that you need a new clutch soon. Dont know how soon though, i waited until mine couldnt do 65 on the freeway without slipping continuously to change it. I had nothing left on one side of it so it was definetly time to change it :sun:

i'd say somewhere between $350 to $500 for a OEM replacement. I had a friend do it so it was like $150 i think for the clutch and he put it on for like $80. Look around you might have a Clutch specialty place near ya, tehy usually have lower prices.

when my clutch went out i was doing about 70 on the interstate. it slipped so bad that i couldnt even move anymore. coasted to an offramp, and down it. got to a parking lot and called my friend. got it home on a flatbed and began the clutch job. both sides of the disc were gone, only fibers in the bellhousing. it cost me 175 for a clutch kit (totally stock, cause this was before the b16 came along to make my life hell) and i did it in one day, actually more like a few hours. not too hard if you have a balljoint seperator and a floor jack or two

could be one of 2 things

either u're clutch is slipping ( which was mentioned already ) or u're tranny may be going... check it out.. u're tranny may be kinda costly.

first time we ever did a clutch was in an '88 accord. holy sh*t...you have to take everything apart. the civic was a slam. if you are not afraid to just take things apart, a 4th gen is very easy. it sounds funny but, just do it.

a stock clutch from honda is like $180...i figure i won't need a clutch for a while so i bit the bullet and spend $300 on a center fource stage 2. let me tell you....worth EVERY penny it feels 100% stock to the foot and yet not troubles spinning tires :smoka: *grabs like a kid in a candy store*

a tranny will cost you anywhere from $125-$300. i just looked for one for a friend last week. i believe the one he went with was $225

I would attempt to do this myself if I was you. I talked to a long of people who said they did it with just jackstands. And you can rent tools for places like SALVO Autoparts for free (I don't know if you have one of those or not). But it would be a lot cheaper to do yourself.

Clutch job

I would have to back all of these guys up and say do it yerself. It's not that rough, and you can get rental tools and stuff for cheap. The 4G civic is simple enough that it doesn't require too much effort, and the tranny is so little you can lift it yerself. If you get into trouble, post up some pictures and we can help you out.

By the way, I just hit 50 posts!!!

Clutch

Sounds like the clutch is slipping but before i went and put a new one in i would adjust the cable. Is there any free play in the clutch pedal or not ? If not than you need to adjust the cable. As for a putting ina clutch i can do it in three hours. I would plan on 5 or so for your first time and take the flywheel off and have it resurfaced .
