Transmission Swapping
Hello. I have a 1986 Fiero 2.5L 2M4 with the 5 speed Izuzu. I was wondering if anybody happened to know if the 2.8L engine will bolt up to the 5 speed Izuzu. I know my old 1986 2M6 had the 2.8L but it had the 4 speed Muncie. I dont want to swap out my transmission just the engine and dont know if it will bolt up or not. Thanks

They will swap but on top of the trans you will need the shift cables and slave cylinder.
P.S. The 2M4 comes with the 5 speed isuzu, not muncie. The muncie IS the getrag. (Designed by Getrag, built by Muncie)

actually the 4speed muncie isnt really made by muncie. it's made IN muncie. muncie, new york. (MOST transmissions are named by the town in which theyre made)

Thats what I meant I have a 86 2m4 with the izuzu 5 speed and want to swap up to a 2.8 or even 3.1 and would like to keep the Izuzu in there. I dont know if it would mount up. Thanks
