92 tercel ,not starting=-
just bought 92 with 140,000. it,s 5 speed with a/c. when i turn the key to start position it,s doing nothing.Zero!!!! after about 5 or 10 trys it fires up instantly. i had similiar problem with 1990 corolla years ago. any suggestions please..

Sounds like it might be the saftey switch on the clutch. Do you have floor mats... if so try taking them out and starting the car. (Hey don't laugh it happens... I know from experience) Some floor mats are just too thick.
If not then it could be a bad switch. |

Heres a way to narrow down the issue, find the clutch switch (look by the pedal i think and find this switch). Remove it and tape the little button thing all the way in, or otherwise do something to make sure the clutch switch is ON all the time. And then, if it still does it, you have narrowed it down to either the ignition switch being worn out (heavy key ring? change the switch). Or the starter itself.
