98 jetta tdi engine code P0605
My check engine light has been on for 2+ years with no performance problems noticed. The diagnostic test says it's the internal control module and replacement cost is $1200. Since it's a diesel, it has only require safety inspection until now. This year our county discontinued emissions test and has started diagnostic checks. I was told I will have to rectify OBD problem. Any suggestions?

what are the codes?????
p0605 sounds like the ecm is bad. IF the code is erased and does not come back its ok. If it does come back than the ecm is bad. Try looking on ebay for a new ecm. SHouldnt be too hard to find one and should be pretty cheap, 50-100.00
