Sick Of My Trans In My 99

Ok i bought my jeep about 3 yrs ago and wrecked the first trans getting stuck in snow (2wd) so i bought a reman unit with a heavy duty build and installed an extra large cooler. you'd think this would make the thing way more durable than stock... so did i. Go on a deployment wife drives the jeep to keep it alive and trans lines pop off not once but twice. why? couldn't tell you they shouldn't have poped off the first time cause the lines were double clamped with the rubber on the steel (for the cooler) with about four inches of overlap. it would take a lot to do that but it happened. why how who knows. i am just pissed that this trans is now wrecked too

That sucks that you've lost the trans.

I'd say the problem lies in how the cooler lines were attached. Perhaps metal lines with screw-on attachments would solve the problem.

i dunno the lines held up when i pulled a trailer about 1000 miles with it but they poped when my wife took a 6 mile drive on the highway. i can't for the life of me figure out where the build of pressure came from to pop them off. especially the second time when a reputable repair shop fixed them and they still poped on a small cross town jog. well either way the damage has been done and i'll wait untill i have to spend another 1400 on a reman unit again.

That's very odd. You don't have any little punks in the neighborhood that might try something like that, do you? OK, that sounds paranoid, but....

never really thought about that but there are definately some little punks but i'd figure that they'd go after my motorcycle first an that thing has not been touched. i dunno mabyee there's a trans gremlin in there somewhere that's stopping up the lines at random inoppertune moments, the only thing with that is that i cleaned the cooler and lines myself and they came out really clean... oh well that's enough of my tanginet i'll get a trans that will last more than a year in that thing yet. till then it's just feathering the throttle into second so it doesn't slip much
