Reverse light problems

A few days ago my reverse lights stopped working on my 97 s-10. So i checked the bulbs and they are good, as with the fuse. Put a voltmeter to where the bulbs connect, got nothing. the grounds are good. from what i could tell the wires were intacked. ALL other lights work just fine.

Im thinking its the switch or sensor that "turns on" the lights. but i dont know where it is located or what it looks like...

If someone could inform me of this, or has any other suggestions, it would be much apreciated..

thanks

btw its a manual trasnmision...

Re: Reverse light problems

there is a sensor on the side of the tranny. it screws in and the tip of them wear out. its easy to replace take you a couple of mins. should be on the driver side in line with the shifter.

Re: Reverse light problems

I located a changed out the sensor and now i have reverse lights! thanks!

It was actually located on the passenger side. There was two of em and it was the one closer to the front of the truck. the other on was inline with the shifter but when i looked at the new one that i got the part where the wires plugged in was different. So...obviously it was the other one...

but thanks for your input

I'm going crazy here.. did you have a part number? Where did you get it?
Half the autoparts stores here, including napa want to sell me a netural safety switch.. they think it's dual function.. I'm so confused..
