92 T&C overhead went blankl
I own a 1992 chrysler town and country van. The overhead console that shows the miles per gallon, distance to empty, etc is not working. It worked before. Now its not. The lights are working, just the LED display is out. After a fillup it didn't come back on. The elec windows are working, all other items are working.

Re: 92 T&C overhead went blankl
Tap it and see if that will make it come back on. My 92 caravan does it all the time, I dont know if it is a bad unit or a bad connection but rapping it with my knuckles always makes it come back on.
If not, you have a bad unit and they can be replaced fairly easily I understand, and have heard here of people picking the console unit up cheap in salvage yards. Good Luck! |

Re: 92 T&C overhead went blankl
OK thanks, I'll give it a try.......
the guy that had it before me said to unhook the neg lead on the batt and reconnect, to try that. but a chrysler mec I asked said that wouldn't do it. so I posted here, but we'll see. I already have a spare curcuit board in case. I got one out of a 93 T&C and one out of a 95 GC...... the boards that you push look a bit different but are the same part no per the dealer, but the readout module from the 93 and the 95 look a bit different from each other. I'm not sure what the one that's in the 92 looks like on the face yet, I haven't taken it out yet. But in any case I'll try the "knockin" first. thanks Maybe there's another answer out there

Re: 92 T&C overhead went blankl
OK well since no one could answer this, I went ahead and fixed it myself....
I got another curcuit board and the mini readout computer from a junk yard, took the overhead down and unplugged the items replaced both items as I didn't know which wasn't working. After replacing them, the thing works again, so it must have been a bad board, or the readout display unit. |
