Re: Dsmlink

You'll need a 95 turbo ECU, your ECU won't work. The dsmlink chips are burned with a certain fuel injector compensation so you'll need to have that sent back and reburned, or else if you lose power you will go back to the previous owner's injector size. There is no installation thread needed, you just have to swap the ecu's and you're done. around 450 bucks would be a good price used.

Re: Dsmlink

EPROM is Erasable Programable Random Access Memory IIRC. I thought you could set injector size in the program... no?

Re: Dsmlink

Ok so he has 550's so If i get those (which I was planning on anyways) then do I still need to get my ecu switched... What do I use eprom for then?

Re: Dsmlink

no no no

eprom is just the type of ECU

Only the 95 ecu's could be rewritten on the fly, that is what dsmlink does everytime.

Thor, yes, DSMLink controls injector compensation, BUT when the car loses power, so does all the settings on DSMLink and the ECU resets itself. DAve and tom will burn the injectors that you have on the ecu, so if this happens, at least you'll have the injectors dialed in enough to drive it to a laptop. for the 1g's I know they have a memory board to prevent this, V3 might bring this to the 2g's.

The point is no matter what you have to use the ECU that has dsmlink. It's a 1995 ecu, the only ones that work with 2g dsmlink

Re: Dsmlink

Hmm makes sense except for why would they make it so only 95's could do that and then all the years after that change it?

Re: Dsmlink

Popular theory is that since 95 started the OBD2 switchover, Mitsu may have been preparing for potential reprogramming being needed if things didn't work right... Once the programming proved to be fine, there was no more need for EPROM ECUs.

Another theory I heard was that all the manufacturers stopped putting in Eprom ECU's because people were saving the original settings, then jumping up the timing and fuel. They would break shit under warranty reset the ecu to stock and take it to the dealer. They would just keep doing that and it was costing manufacturers too much money. That is what my shop teacher in highschool told me anyways and he was just taking in general not specific to DSMs.

Re: Dsmlink

Here ya go man, Here is a pic of my 95 eprom.

I think only 93 and 95 had eproms, a non eprom has no chip there and cannot be socketed.

Now here is a picture of my DSMLINK This is what i got done atwww.dsmlink.com for $605

And the chip now says dsmlink on it if i took the top back off
