My 99 Malibu 4 cylinder has had a long line of problems. The current issue is that my check engine light came on and said that there was a cylinder 1 misfire. The engine started running rough and I was burning through gas like crazy. The car didn't want to go uphills and I had to floor it just to get to the top. I changed the spark plugs, boots and coils. The light came back on a few minutes later
and said cylinder 1 misfire again. Any ideas of what else it could be?

Re: cylinder misfire
No it's not making any noise, just shaking. Every once in a while, while i'm accelerating it kicks in and takes off

Re: cylinder misfire
Check your PCV value to see if it is clogged or to see if the hose is cracked. Also check your gas cap.

Re: cylinder misfire
It's probably the fuel injector on that cylinder. Since you changed the ignition components, and the miss stayed on the same cylinder, that points straight to an injector.

Re: cylinder misfire
I finally found the problem, it wasn't the gas cap or the pcv valve. When i changed the spark plugs i used bosch platinum, i tried champion plugs instead and the problem went away. Thanks for the advice
