ABS Light
'96 WStar with the ABS light on. Previously it has always been related to slightly low fluid level. Topping off the fluid did not cut it this time. I have yet to remove the wheels and inspect/clean the wheel speed sensors however I had a question: Is the ABS system fail-operational? i.e. with the light on might the system still function? Or does a fault in the system shut the system down completely?
Thanks |

Re: ABS Light
Thanks for the info Dan
Well light is off. I went out with the intention of examining/cleaning the wheel speed sensors. But since I have had issues before when the fluid level was even slightly low, I first added just a bit more fluid - slightly on the high side of the Max fill line - and used electrical contact cleaner to clean the fluid level sensor contacts. That took care of it thankfully. |
