3000 GT's VR4 vs SL

I was heading back to work on lunch Friday and I was at a light waiting when I see this Red 2nd gen SL take a right onto the road across from me. Well I was heading that way so now I am eager to go, love to see other 3K's cause no one on the boards lives here. Well he takes off like any of us would and is over a block away when the light changed, but no cars were in between us, so I look for cops and play catch up, doesnt take too long. I stay on him wondering his plans, i want to race him for a little fun, well we are almost to the next light and I am turning left there so i signal and this prompts him to hook in to the turn lane. Well we sit there waiting and the light changes and he goes and I follow but I move into the left lane and he in the right.

I look over and see tint but I give the standard nod for lets go, I hear his exhaust and some WOT and I drop gears, he is already a car ahead because my transmission has some sort of bumpers inside that make quick shifts take more precision and more strength. Anyway I think this gave him the feel he was winning because once I hit second and got on it I was on him in no time. I pulled fast up next to him gave him a rev as I held close then went wide open up to 7500rpm and let off as I shifted to 3rd.

I then changed to the right to get ready for my turn and noticed him still trying to catch up, so I swung the turn at about 45 and gave a good bolt to put some space before he passed the turn, to my surprise he turned as well. I come up to a light and he gets into the turn lane and rolls down his window to talk.

him "I dont want to race again man"
me "I dont blame you"
him "is that really a turbo"
me "yeah"
HORN HONKING BEHIND ME
me "gotta move man, check out 3si.org" (I need to get some 3si.org fliers, maybe include automotive forums too.)

I think the spoiler and the VR4 gave me away because the active aero didnt turn off until the light when he came up to the turn.

I also raced a Bronco... Dude raced ahead from one light, I came up and he switched to the right lane to get side by side. Looked like a total greaser, hair all slicked and semi spiked backwards, he keeps revving and has his foot on the brake and his wheels start spinning. I laugh and the light changes... Needless to say by the time he broke loose it was already over.

Nice double kill if you including the Bronco too...lol. If you live in a college town there are sure to be plenty of people to race. I personally dont but whenever I do there are so many riced hondas, V6 stangs, etc it almost makes you sick.

i hate where i live, it's all riced out skyline's, fairlady's, civic's, and a couple type r integra's, 3kgt's, and rsx's, i think i'm the only american car here, there's a major japanese car importer on the edge of town, so 90% of the cars i race are riced out imports with the steering wheel on the wrong side lol

I've never seen a skyline on the road ever. I would think they would be kind of expensive for ricers to get a hold of. Mabye not?

Way to go, you beat up on the younger brother. Nah, jk, good race I guess, but he was doomed from the beginning.

$6,000 for a 90 gt-r, about $3,500 - $4,000 for a 90 gts-t, i priced a couple out back in the day, the most expensive one i found was $14,000 for a 1990 gt-r with 620 hp and the dyno sheets to prove it, but skyline's are EVERYWHERE here lol, i see atleast 2 or 3 different one's every time i leave the house

Re: 3000 GT's VR4 vs SL

From what I've read, I would love to have a skyline GTr though that could be hard since there are practitcally none here. Are they only RHD? I think that would be kind of bad ass.

Re: 3000 GT's VR4 vs SL

rims is not rice, body kits are not rice, the wing is needed!!

your not mentioning rice to me, your mentioning style(in some's opinion)

rice is a attitude, the car is fast, its a performer, so if they want to make it look different or nicer, then so be it, that doesnt make it rice

Re: 3000 GT's VR4 vs SL

rice to me is taking a stock car and puttin the same amount of money they spent on the damn thing just on making it look fast and sounding like me on the toilet after 6 bowls of chilie, and not putting a cent into anything that actually makes the car work or perform any better.

Re: 3000 GT's VR4 vs SL

if the car already performs like a champ, then why not spend 2 grand to make a 40,000 dollar car look a little better??

bodykit paint job rims and a wing is not even 1/6th of the amount of that car

now if he put spinners on it, then he's rice
