Porsche Boxster SP **PIC**

Here is my lastest project. It's a Tamiya 24249 Porsche Boxster Special Edition. This is a basic, but very well done kit. It was suposed to be done in Yellow, but the paint wouldn't stick on the body even with a primer ! so an other hour of sanding, nother coat of primer and I painted it red.. but there's a lot of small bubble on the car.. I will try to polish this later. Let me know what you think !

Not sure about current line of Testor products, but if the clear is Testor Gloss Coat with orange label, then that's a lacquer base paint, which affects any other types, such as enamel and water base acrylics.

When using an incompatible paint, first the body paint has to be thoroughly dry, then the first few coats of clear has to be mist, so that the solvent evaporates before it starts eating the body color. After several coats of clear is applied, increase the amount a bit, but still be easy on it.
I say five coats of mist should be enough before going for a full blast of clear, but it's always recommended to keep each layer thin and allow each coat to dry before adding another.

(still, I don't recommend using Testor Gloss Coat on any paint other than synthetic lacquer, such as Tamiya Spray or Mr. Color.)

Good advice...I always thought Tamiya and Testors made "cold" lacquers compared to the "hot" automotive lacquers...but I guess one can't be too careful. Sure beats a repaint!

Man, I don't care what these guys say, that's a great job.

Oh, by the way, I've been thinking about getting that kit. Do you have any other comments about it?

Question

Nice job.

Sorry for asking a stupid question, but what's the difference between the special edition model and the regular model? Besides being molded in yellow.
