Help with Upgrading

Im rebuilding my engine from top to bottom so I figured why not upgrade the turbos while im at it since one turbo needs a rebuild. So here is what I plan to do, my question is; is there anything else I should be doing (i.e. different compression pistons) or anything I could do without?

What I plan on adding:
-3SX Eliminator Turbos
-A'PEXi II Super AFC Fuel Controller ver II
-Denso Fuel Pump
-RC 550cc fuel Injectors
-TurboXS Blow off Valve Type H-RFL
-Blitz SBC i-Color Boost Controller

I already have:
-Iridium Plugs
-Accel Performance Wires
-Borla Dual Exhaust
-K&N CAI

Re: Help with Upgrading

sounds like you've got everything taken care of man, good luck with all that stuff. I'm assuming that your borla exhaust isn't a true dual setup, so if I were you, I'd get a downpipe and a high flow cat converter to go along with everything, and that'll really open up the exhaust. Ohhh and possibly larger intercooler (front or sidemount) and an aftermarket y-pipe, as the stock one has a tendancy to pop off.

Re: Help with Upgrading

Oops forgot about the y-pipe.

And yes the exhaust is not true dual so I was going to get cut outs for the exhaust and add them in there for when I decide to race someone, just pull them open and bam!...open header setup

Re: Help with Upgrading

OK, 550s are good with the AFC2, but if you go bigger, you are going to need some sort of timing control. So if you plan on really pushing these turbos to their limits, 660s and a Greddy e-manage are the way to go.

Intercooler, either front mount, or swap in a set of modified DSM sidemounts.

Downpipe as mentioned above. This and the precats are HUGE exhaust restrictions, much more so than the catback. You are really limiting your turbos potential with a stock dp.

oil lines, 3sx wont fulfill any warranties on their turbos unless you buy new oil lines. So tack on antoher $230 onto their price.

(just a thought, but modified 13T turbos can be gotten for about half hte price, and provide very similar numbers)

Iridium plugs maybe an issue with that kind of boost. Most would recommend coppers.

-15Gs, 3sx aluminum pulley, FMIC, SAFC, walboro pump, EVO 560ccs, and Meth Injection Kit all waiting to go in shortly.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Help with Upgrading

Just occured to me to mention a clutch. The stock one will be hurting after 300AWHP.

Re: Help with Upgrading

stock internals will be good for your set up

If you were to go with a more powerful set up, then i'd recommend into looking for forged pistons.
