i have 90 dakota am thinking about swapping the 3.9 for a early 318 carb
would like to keep my trans thats in it now factory with od wondering will it match and also work with an early 318. i know i could go with fuel injection but too much wire changing and the early model whole lot easier to work on. has anyone done this and what problems will i run into |

figured that an early 318 as for myself is easier to work on
like a mid 80's my truck is a 90 dakota LE understand about the mounts did the 90 models come with a v8 thought that didnt happen until 92 just dont want to have to mess with changing out the wiring harness and comptr not worried about gas mileage either oh yeah seen your pics i also owned a tourismo 2.2 86 model my family is mopar most of my family works for chrysler |

Re: motor swap
I'm not sure about the years they came with eights, I do know that in about '87 or '88 they made a Shelby Dakota which was 318 powered. If you're good with a welder you shouldn't have a problem with the mounts.
I would do away with the computers and stuff. Run it like you would an old car.
